Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-10-31
These terms apply when you use Sidekick Note — sidekicknote.com, the web app at app.sidekicknote.com and the Sidekick Note extension for Chrome (together, “the service”), provided by the Sidekick Note team (“we”, “us”). By using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Beta
Sidekick Note is in beta. Features may change, appear or go away, and there may be bugs. Please keep your recovery code safe and export notes you cannot afford to lose.
2. Your account
You sign in with an IDUnify account and must follow IDUnify’s terms. You are responsible for what happens in your account and for keeping your sign-in, your vault passphrase and your recovery code safe. You must be at least 13 years old (or the age required where you live).
3. Your notes belong to you
You keep all rights to what you write and upload. You give us only the permission we need to store, encrypt, sync and show your content back to you, and — when you choose to share or publish a note — to show that copy to the people you share it with.
4. Encryption and recovery
Your notes are encrypted with Standard protection (the key is held in Google Cloud KMS for your account; signing in with IDUnify opens them). Notebooks you make private are end-to-end encrypted: we never have their passphrase or recovery code, so we cannot reset them or recover those notes if you lose both. That is part of how the service protects you.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to break the law, to harm others, to share content you have no right to share, to send malware or spam, to attack or overload the service, or to get around plan limits or security. Shared and published notes must follow these rules too; we may remove a shared link that breaks them.
6. AI features
AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check important results yourself before you rely on them. AI credits are limits on use, not money; they have no cash value and may reset each month. When you use your own API key, the provider’s terms and charges apply.
7. Plans and prices
The service is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans, we will show the price and terms before you buy anything, and a Free plan will remain. Plan limits (for example note size, image size or AI credits) are shown in the app and may change; we will give notice before a change that reduces what you already pay for.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service fast and available, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or stop parts of the service; if we stop the service, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your notes.
9. Ending
You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or when the law requires it.
10. Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data you could have prevented by keeping your recovery code and exports. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
11. Names
Sidekick Note is an independent product inspired by the pop-up desk utilities of the 1980s and is not affiliated with or endorsed by their makers. Other names mentioned belong to their owners.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date above and tell you about important changes in the app or by e-mail before they apply. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.
